Large Hadron Collider Atom Smasher Collides Particles at Record Energy Levels

An example of simulated data modeled for the CMS particle detector on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland. Here, following a collision of two protons, a Higgs boson is produced, which decays into two jets of hadrons and two electrons. PHOTO: CERN.

Physicists have started running the world’s largest particle accelerator at
a new record level of energy and taking the first data from these ultrapowerful
collisions. We are making this article available so that you know to keep abreast of related future findings.
